What AnimalsWork Is

AnimalsWork is an independent online field guide covering animals across every major class — mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and marine life — alongside practical guidance on pet care, breed information, and articles on animal behavior and conservation. Our goal is straightforward: build the kind of animal reference site we’d actually want to use ourselves, with real depth instead of thin, recycled summaries.

Why We Built This

Search results for animal information are often dominated by either overly clinical scientific databases or thin, ad-heavy pages that recycle the same handful of facts. We wanted something in between — accurate and well-researched, but written for a general audience, with enough context to actually be useful whether you’re a student, a new pet owner, or just curious what a wombat’s droppings look like (they’re cube-shaped, by the way).

What Kind of Information We Provide

Our animal profiles cover classification, habitat, diet, lifespan, physical characteristics, behavior, geographic range and conservation status. Our articles go deeper on specific topics in animal behavior, wildlife, pet care and conservation. We clearly separate general educational content from anything that could be read as medical or veterinary advice, and we say so explicitly wherever that distinction matters.

How We Research Content

Each profile and article is researched against widely accepted reference sources for the relevant field — including recognized conservation status classifications such as the IUCN Red List — and written or reviewed by our editorial team before publishing. We are not a peer-reviewed scientific journal, and we say so plainly: AnimalsWork is an educational publication, not a primary research source.

How We Handle Corrections

Factual accuracy matters to us more than being first with content. If you spot an error, outdated conservation status, or unclear explanation anywhere on the site, please use our Contact page to let us know — we review and correct reported issues as promptly as we can, and significant corrections are noted with an updated date on the affected page.
